You and your child decided to improve the performance in school and found a great tutor. You set the tuition price per hour: the money will be given to the tutor after each lesson. Sounds simple, isn’t it? But there are a lot of other important nuances, which should be also coordinated. The best way to avoid future misunderstandings with you tutor is to make a tuition contract. Even if you don’t have knowledge in legal sphere, you are able to write a contract, which will include all necessary organizational details.
The main principle in writing tuition contract is to use simple and clear word combinations and form short sentences. Don’t try to use legal terms, the meaning of which you don’t understand completely.
Here are six useful tips for parents, who decided to make their first tuition contract:
1. Designate both sides and enumerate all details. Write down name, address and contacts of a student and a tutor; the place, where the lessons will take place and the number and duration of it. Indicate the subject and the quality of expected tutoring services.
2. Describe the service you will pay for and the price of it. Specify the price of tuition per hour. Indicate whether the travel fee is included into the price of tuition. Specify the length of lesson (it should be from the moment tutor enters your apartment and to the moment he or she leaves; it shouldn’t include travel time).
3. Try to specify the smallest details. Designate whether homework check is included into the price of the lesson or it is preparation time of a tutor. Will contacts between lessons be possible and will the tutor answer student’s emails?
4. Provide tutor’s policy in case of illness or annulment of the lesson in tuition contract. Specify the period of time before the lesson, when cancellation can be made, and the form of notice of it; the amount of compensation if the tutor comes and student is not able to train that day. Describe the situation when one of the sides can’t contact the other.
